1. Feeding program for Day Care students launch.

The Pinsao Proper Day Care was bursting with energy in June 9, 2015 as 17 students from Monol joined 50 children from the morning and afternoon seasons for a simple art activity and a bit of alphabet games. The art and craft activity for the day was bringing depth and texture to colored pictures using yarns. It looked like a very laborious job to behold!

After the art activity, the kids had a game of guessing letters, and much later, they had a sumptuous lunch with meatballs, sweet potato chips, rice, and sago't gulaman, a popular cold drink usually served during the summer in the Philippines filled with tapioca and jelly.

As monol is situated in this Barangay, it was only natural for the academy and its students to give back to the hospitality the neighborhood has shown. More so, since July is known as "Nutrition Month", Monol students not only inspired the children with art and meaningful learning, but also helped in campaigning healthy eating among the young generation.

Monol hosts university students' summer camp

Monol was the home of 37 students from Sun Moon University for a summer camp program, which began in June 22 and ended in July 9. Even though their program was short, their stay had the perfect balance for learning and leisure as they did not only hit the books but was also able to enjoy summer in the Philippines at a beach resort in San fabian, Pangasinan.

Sun Moon University is located at Asan New City in the Central region of Korea offering diverse programs to students from all over the world. Their camp program with Monol from June to July was apparently their second time.  Earlier this year, from January to February, a batch of 74 students came to enjoy learning English at Monol for their winter camp. Indeed, like those who prepare rigorously for a brighter future, students from Sun Moon University go the extra mile to learn English even during their vacation. And through the purpose, Monol will also lend a helping hand to those who strive for fluency in English and be globally competitive.

Summer in the Philippines has gone and the rainy season has begun. Although most mornings greet sleepy eyes with the sun’s bright rays, the afternoons can be wracked with thunderstorms. Rain or shine, we, at Monol continue to brighten each other’s days and enjoy every single day with teachers and friends. For this month’s issue, we showcase Serena’s essay. Here, she shares her memories with her teachers, roommates and classmates, who played a very big role in making her Monol life productive and unforgettable.
